Fall Television Lineup Preview

This fall will have some great new seasons for some of our favorite shows and promising premieres as well. Check out some of the shows I’ll be looking out for!

Gotham

With Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy complete and Zack Snyder’s take on the Dark Knight a ways off, we’ll have to pass the time with this version of Bruce Wayne and Gotham. The show follows a Gotham before the time of the Batman and will focus mainly on a young Jim Gordon. This era in the Batman mythos has rarely been depicted across any medium so it’s exciting that we will get a look at some of the major characters before they become who they’re known as. “Gotham” stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, and Jada Pinkett Smith as a character known as Fish Mooney.

“Gotham” premieres September 22nd on FOX.

The Legend of Korra Book Four: Balance

Recently, the title of Book Four was released for the hit Nickelodeon show. What surprised fans most was how soon the new season would be airing since Book Three just finished a few weeks ago. Book Three featured some of the best bending, story lines, and character development throughout the entire series and the season finale was nothing but spectacular. Korra looks to restore balance to the world which was left in a chaotic state after Zaheer and the Red Lotus sought to end the world’s order.

You can find the new season of “The Legend of Korra” on nick.com and the first episode will air October 3rd.

The Flash

The CW seems to have replicated the formula used on “Arrow” and looks to start their fall lineup strong with the spinoff series “The Flash”. The show will follow one of the most popular Flash characters, Barry Allen as he defends Central City against evil. After a short stint on “Arrow”, Grant Gustin returns to the role as the speedster once again and will be given the chance to really shine in the role.

“The Flash” premieres October 7th on the CW.

Arrow Season 3

The fan favorite will be returning with this third much anticipated season. Oliver Queen looks to rebuild Starling City in the aftermath of Deathstroke’s attack. Stephen Amell returns as the Green Arrow and continues his crusade as the city’s infamous vigilante. We’ll also be introduced to the likes of Ra’s al Ghul and many other villains.

Catch “Arrow” on October 8th on the CW.

The Walking Dead Season 5

“The Walking Dead” has drawn quite the audience over the years for its action, character development, and well, zombies. The fifth season picks up right where the last left off. Rick and company are still being held in the mysterious Terminus. This season will definitely be entertaining as the group is no longer safe and are now at the mercy of these deadly people. Will everyone make it out alive?

You can catch “The Walking Dead” on AMC and the season five will premiere October 12th.

Geek News of the Week

Valar Morghullis!!

This week featured many notable stories and releases so let’s take a look at some of the biggest!

Gotham Releases Trailer

New Fox TV show Gotham will showcase  detective Jim Gordon and his adventures in Gotham before the Batman. The trailer definitely has me excited for the show and I look forward to the direction the show goes into. Gotham will air this Fall.

Cancellations

This week, we found out which shows in jeopardy of getting the axe, actually got the axe. Some big shows that have been cancelled are The X Factor, Almost Human, and Suburgatory.  The biggest cancellation for me has to be Community, which has pretty much been in jeopardy of cancellation every season. The great Dan Harmon show had its ups and downs including Harmon leaving and returning but it looks like there won’t be six seasons and a movie.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Trailer

This looks amazing! I’m really looking forward to watching the struggle of mankind as the remaining humans combat Caesar and his army of primates. The film releases July 11th 2014.

It’s good to be back.

What You May Have Missed Today: DC Comics News

Son of Batman

This year marks the 75th Anniversary for Batman and we received some well received news regarding his son, Damian Wayne. The first trailer for Son of Batman was released. Son of Batman is a new animated film based on Grant Morrison’s early run on the “Batman and Son” arc where he finds out he has an unruly pre-teen son. Damian was being raised by his mother Talia Al Ghul and the League of Assassins.

The voice cast features Jason O’Mara as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Stuart Allan as Damian, Morena Baccarin as Talia, Giancarlo Esposito as Ra’s Al Ghul, and Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke. Deathstroke was not originally in the story but he will be in the animated film which will premiere at Anaheim’s WonderCon Easter Weekend.  If you haven’t seen the trailer, take a look below.

JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time

jla adventures

A new animated film entitled JLA Adventures: Trapped in Time will be released January 21st. It wasn’t really marketed and this was the first I’ve heard of it.

Here’s the synopsis:

Get ready for a battle of the ages when the Justice League faces off against its archenemies, the Legion of Doom, in an all-new movie from DC Comics. A mysterious being known as the Time Trapper arises, and a sinister plan led by Lex Luthor sends the Legion of Doom back in time to eliminate Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman before they become super heroes. For Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg, along with teen super heroes Karate Kid and Dawnstar, the stakes have never been higher, the rescue mission never deadlier. So join the fight for the future as the Justice League confronts its ultimate challenge… the threat of having never existed!

I’ll try to watch that as soon as I can and give you my take on it!

Gotham

As you may know, Fox will be filming a new TV show centered around Gotham, a young Gordon, and a young Bruce Wayne. More reports now reveal some of Batman’s main villains will be in the show. Villains include the Riddler, the Penguin, and even the Joker. Fox’s entertainment chairman, Kevin Reilly, reported what the future villains’ roles shall be. “We will see how they get to become what they are as Gotham is teetering on the edge,” Reilly said.

I expect Gotham to be DC’s counter to Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and I hope it can be as good as S.H.I.E.L.D. is. (Which isn’t particularly outstanding)

That’s all the news I have for today. Be sure to check back for more updates and news!
